1.0 SYNOPSIS
The course will provide students with the necessary knowledge and skills to develop research proposal, carry out a research study and thus work out a research proposal. In particular, the course aims at teaching students about research methodology with emphasis to research in computer science. The course begins with introduction to research and introduces the types of research. The course will also introduce a multi-methodological approach to information systems research. Methods for data collection and analysis are also included. The important steps in planning a research project, such as problem identification and formulation, formulation of the research questions, developing the study objectives, reviewing related literature and formulation of a model will also be covered. The course also discusses the preparations involved in writing a research proposal.
