About

I am an Associate Professor of Economics at the University of the South (Sewanee).

My research interests are varied but fall under the umbrella of microeconomic theory and industrial organisation. I like to use theoretical models to explain seemingly irrational behaviour, and use experimental methods to study social preferences.

My current research is in the area of other regarding preferences, with a focus on using experimental techniques to ascertain both the existence and level of non-standard preferences. In addition to academic research, I have conducted research to inform policy in the areas of energy economics and urban economics.

I like to use findings from my research in the classroom, and find that real world examples help ground the theory we teach in class. I have had the privilege of teaching a diverse set of students at multiple institutes, with varying class sizes. I particularly enjoy teaching game theory as I find students connect well with the intuitive foundations of the subject.

Details about my research projects and teaching can be found in my CV, which can be accessed from the navigation bar.

Aside from research and teaching, I am an amateur photographer and an avid badminton and table tennis player. You can find some of my pictures on Flickr by using the link above.
