ANNOUNCEMENT:
Are you here because I sent gave you an invitation to our 1952-themed party? The address is on the invitation but if you lost it, send me an email at JustAdamAgain@gmail.com and also email me if this theme doesn't sound like your brand of vodka but you'd like an invitation to a future party with a different theme. I know the invitations and the website seem a little "mass market junk mail" but I'm only giving out about 10-15 invitations.
Now, it's been a blue moon and a solar eclipse since Adam (me) has thrown a theme party. And I'm handing these invitations out to my new Saint Cloud friends so for refresher or for the uninitiated, here's the details.
WHO: I'm Adam, my wife is Kiri, our 12 (nearly 13) year old son is Hunter. Adam is a part-time professor and full-time charity worker. Kiri is an accountant who works from home. Hunter is in virtual school who is already in high school and trying to get a college to accept a kid his age. Our golden doodles are Nightmare Before Christmas (4 yo, 80lbs) and Chewbacca (2 yo, 40lbs) but we call them Nightmare and Bacca. They will be put in the backyard unless it seems like we can handle their size and affectionate energy. They are supposed to be a hypoallergenic breed if you have allergies. As for the you who, you got an invitation because I've either met you briefly and want to become acquaintances or you are an acquaintance I want to become a friend or, in the rare case, a friend who is just used to these exhibitions of fun. Bring a +1, bring a +2, bring a kid, bring a pet, whatever you want to handle. Or come solo and apologize to your family that they weren't invited. I won't tell.
WHAT: Theme parties are a rare things these days so it warrants explanation. It's a lost art but one I used to do them weekly before we left Orlando. Our theme is 1952. Costumes are totally optional but you can come dressed in the styles of 1952 or as someone from 1952 we should recognize. If you don't want your picture on my Instagram feed, just let me know. I have no problem protecting privacy and know people are camera shy. If you want to bring a dish, you can but you don't have to. It can be something they ate in 1952 or just something you like to show off. I'll be serving 1952 dishes in a spread but there won't be a sit down and eat time. Games will be things like charades but we also have a video game den upstairs for kids and a poker table / bumper pool. If you want to bring a few singles to wager, any leftover money will be donated to a local scholarship for kids in Osceola County.
WHEN: Sunday, May 26th, 2024. Doors open at 4pm. Food and punch set out at 5pm. Cocktails at 6pm. Party games at 7pm. Doors close at 9pm.
WHERE: Our house! Address on the invitation but we are close to the corner of Narcoossee Rd and 10th Street in Saint Cloud. There's lots of street parking but don't park directly behind a driveway or someone might back up into you since we're all used to nobody being there.
HOW: As easily or as complicated as you like! Kids or no kids. Sober or funky. Bring food or don't. Dress up or down. In costume or as you are. I'm not a stickler for rules. Shoes can be left on. Ask for a tour of the house if you like. My "man cave" is a museum and feel free to touch any of the pieces in it. If something breaks, no problem but let me know so I can fix it or clean it up. Please get approval of the people in your photos before posting them online. You never know who is in witness protection. No gifts are necessary or requested but some of us (well, me!) get anxiety if can't bring something to a party. We will be most welcome to receive bottom shelf liquor for mixing, Lakeridge Winery Southern Red wine, Bacardi rum (my family label), oddities or art for the museum, candies of any kind, and what we really really like is a good long story you can tell us!
Email me with any questions if you don't have my phone number.
