Library History:
The Library was first established in 1942, and the first Librarian was Miss Dollye Porch. She was followed in 1949 by Mrs. Gray, who was then followed in 1953 by Mrs. Doris Crane. From 1983 to present, Mrs. Ethel Carmical has served as director. In 1968 the Humphreys County Public Library moved to its present location at 201 Pavo Street. In the fall of 2001 the new archives and genealogy room was added to the present library at 201 Pavo Street. The library now encompasses 10,000 plus square feet and 50,000 plus books.
Library Mission:
The Humphreys County Public Library will provide materials, services and programs for our preschool as well as our children already attending our educational system.
The Humphreys County Public Library will serve the needs of our community with Popular and Reference materials.
The Humphreys County Library will provide materials and training in the technology field to serve all ages of our community.
The Humphreys County Library will provide materials, services and programs for our handicapped residents.
Humphreys County Public Library will keep up to date emergency plans and make sure all equipment is operational for this plan.
