Today is the day! I finally got to “play around” with my materials. The look of these tuning forks seem a little peculiar, but the sound they give off is interesting. In the next few days, I will proceed to do research on the principles and concepts of these Tuning Forks.

After a few days of research i found some basic principles of the Tuning Fork. There is Frequency, acoustics and vibration. Frequency is a sensed pitch of sound. Acoustics is the actual study of sound and its transmission, reception, as well as its generation. Vibration is just a disruption in an equilibrium. In the later weeks i will finish my website as well as figure out some demonstrations i can do with the forks.

By looking at many of the Tuning fork videos on YouTube, I've chosen the demonstrations that i want to do. as a precursor to making the demonstration video, i’m going to begin brainstorming a script full of information.

I fine tuned my website today. I added a couple of pictures as well as some more information about Resonance and Tuning Forks.

December 20, 2013

After a few weeks hiatus, I have completed my social Studies connection. Resonance turns out to be more important in society and technology than i expected. It is not just used musically, but it is also used in many medical devices and machinery like the MRI. Hence the name “Magnetic Resonance Imaging.” More progress to come.

Wow, tuning forks are quite hard to tune, ironically. I can repel the frequencies just fine in one demonstration, but getting each tuning fork at the same pitch if a challenge. After getting the two tuning forks to resonate the same pitch, i etched marks into the where the tuning knobs were. I did this so that i, as well as future STEM participants could find ease tuning the tuning forks.

After demonstrating the principles of Resonance through tuning forks at my school’s STEM Fest, I decided to shoot my video. I have drafted my final script and will get to updating my website information as well as conclude this whole project.

February 12, 2014

I have uploaded my demonstration video to youtube as well as update my Website information. After an hour or two of shooting video and editing, I am finally concluding this project. Learning how resonance is used in many different ways really interested me. I hope next year that I will able to embark onto an interesting topic as Resonance. Thank You resonance. ITS BEEN VERY “SOUND” BETWEEN US. It was only appropriate if i concluded this project with a pun.
