Spatial Data Format

GIS資料的格式有兩種來源：

• 某特定軟體所使用的格式，其資料特定和該軟體功能密切關連。有些特定軟體格式，因通用性高，也會被廣泛採用。資料格式屬於該軟體廠商，為權威解釋。當軟體不再維護時，很可能找不到軟體讀取。

• 不屬於特定軟體的格式，為各軟體共同使用，以便資料交換。但有時該格式會有不同的詮釋或延伸，造成資料交換困難。一些部被軟體支援的格式，也會被自然淘汰。
