Background Research

The main idea of my PBL project is to create a kaleidoscope using three rectangular shaped mirrors. I will also be creating 3 other kaleidoscopes using 4 mirrors, 5 mirrors, and 6 mirrors. To create the kaleidoscope, I will need to know how light works, the different ways light bounces off certain objects, and what illusions the light creates when reflecting off different objects. The way light bounces off objects can be described using linear equations. I can also use the particle theory of light to correctly create the image seen through the different kaleidoscopes. Below are pictures that give a visual representation of how light contributes to the image inside of a kaleidoscope.
