Task 1: Today we chose our topics for a PBL or Project Based Learning. I chose Diffraction Glasses, because I used to be interested with things like kaleidoscopes when I was younger and I want to know how they work.
Task 2: Today we created our website for our PBL. We used Google Sites to create it and tomorrow we will start to design our websites and put information on them.
Task 3: In this step we must now choose the project of our liking. We look through a list of many projects, and pick the one that we like best. Since we are in a Physics class, we choose from the physics section. After we choose the project we like best, we email our teacher our choice.
Task 4: Now comes the research portion. When you choose the project you would like, you receive a packet to help guide you through the process. In the packet, it lists several terms you need to look up in order to better understand what your project is about. Also, you should look up the key words listed in your project which will help you with the background research. After you have completed your background research, you must make a list of the materials you'll need to complete this project and give it to your teacher.
Task 5: In this step you will choose what component you would like to use for ELA. There are many options like essays or journals. Once you have chosen what you would like to do, you will use the component for each task of your PBL project.
Task 6: This step is the history part of your project. Depending on your project you will research the history of the science. Keep in mind the history and background research are two different things. In the history you will find out what sciences or discoveries led to the factors in your project.
Task 7: This task is taking the information from tasks 5 and 6 and putting them on new tabs. Each tab gets a title relating to the subject, separate tabs, and the information is typed in.
Task 8 & 9: Create about my school page. These two task are combined and very important. You must create a page and explain the whole reason for PBL projects and there relation to Harmony. You must include videos, quotes, and logos. Also you will include links to the actual sites for parents to get a more better idea of what PBL's are.
Task 10 & 11: These two steps are creating your "My PBL Page". This page is just a better explanation of your whole project. You talk about your materials, procedures, background information, scientific findings, and you also include some pictures. Again the point of this page is to show what you have learned about your experiment so far, and lay out in writing the process of the whole thing.
Task 12: This task is an attachment you put on the "My PBL Page". You fill it out, and it is basically a more detailed version of what you did, where you got your information, and what have you learned. This also helps the person looking at your website get a more clear idea of what your doing to achieve full reliable information on your project.
Task 13: This step is adding my English work on my tab.
Task 14: This step is adding my History work on my tab.
Task 15: In this task you create your script for your movie. Once completed and checked by your English teacher, you will then film your movie. Once all the filming and pictures have been done, you edit the movie and complete it.
Task 16: This task is creating a YouTube channel. Once you create your channel, post your movie on the channel. After you post your movie on your channel, you also post it on the Home tab on your website.
Task 17: In this task you create your brochure for your project, which you will later use when you present your project in front of people. You also download the link to your brochure on your homepage.
Task 18 & 19: In these task you will be joining the STEM Festival.
Task 20: In this task you will present your English and History parts of your PBL project.
