How does this apply to society and politics?

Through out history, it have been very hard to clean up oil spill. By burning the oil damage the aquatic life forms under the spill and contribute to global warming. Oil will eventually dissolve, but it takes an extremely long time and it also hurt the species under the spill by blocking sunlight, and oil spills are still pollution. Plus, most of the spill are just too big to leave there. There have been large, impacting spills, such as, the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill and the spill in the Gulf of Mexico. These spills damages the environment and harm the organisms in the area.
