Introduction:
My project is the bed of nails. My project is a demonstration of weight distribution
Can weight be distributed to where a person can lay down on it and not feel pain?
I will prove that by laying down in a bed full of nails the weight is going to be evenly distributed and will cause no pain at all.
Materials:
Wood
Nails
Ruler
Hammer
Procedure:
Measure every half inch making diagonal and horizontal lines across the board
Watch the video, you can see its nothing but nails!
Try laying down on this bed, might not seem safety, but why dont you try it and find out by yourself?!!(:
Then start by nailing in the nails every time the lines touch each other.
Scientific Principle :
Pressure- The weight is distributed over the large amount of nails. As a result, the pressure of the weight at one nail tip isn't enough to penetrate through the skin. The more area there is the less pressure there is going to be applied. P= F/A
As an example, in order to walk on a snowy road people are using wide snow shoes. Pressure distributes along with the surface which allows the person walk easily.
Safety regulations:
Have an adult help you or supervise you while nailing the nails.
Adult supervision is required while using the bed.
