ELA Component

Illusions are self-constructed truth. Behind an illusion, there is always the universal truth hidden. My project deals with an optical illusion and light through a concave mirror. In this experiment, a spring is placed in front of a concave mirror which is not visible to the viewer. The only thing that the audience can see is the mirror image formed in an open space. Most often times, the audience thinks that the image is real, and tries to touch. Upon attempting to touch the image, the hand moves right through what seems to be a solid object, thus creating an illusion. The reason I chose the project was because I thought it was quite interesting how the human brain works and how it perceives information which sometimes tends to deceive our eyes, besides, it being so obvious. The ELA component that would best work with my project would be a short story.

Once in a village far way from here, there lived a man in a cave, and was not so well-to do and could not afford to oil to light up the lamps. The man lived in darkness and electricity was not invented. Nor in his cave were there any mirror so he could reflect any light of any kind or take care of his appearance. As a result of this he could not afford a high working position in his job either. As time passed by, the man grew weaker as he would fall and could not eat much food either.

This poor lifestyle disturbed the man's family very much. The man got crippled and weak. The man's family grew more and more worried. This painful lifestyle was a great negative point in the man's work. Until, a day finally came when in a city far from the village, a man named Thomas Edison invented the light bulb and the world was illuminated.
