  • I chose newspaper for my PBL on cells because it is a quick and effective way to present the information. It will best illustrate my project's objectives.

DISCOVERED CELLS?!

  • Robert Hooke..

  • In 1665!

He was home-schooled and was interested in mechanic studies in his early life. He started to study with scientists and help them with experiments. He used a microscope and telescope to study structures between living and nonliving things. He experimented on a cork and discovered that it was made of a single unit.

THAT WAS HIS FIRST BREAKTHROUGH!!!

After that, he experimented with different plants and discovered the cells from the tissue of a plant.

WHAT ARE CELLS?!

  • Cells are the basic structures of all living things. They are what makes up the human body!

    • They have parts that perform specific functions

The many cells in our body allows us to grow and survive. If we were only made of one cell, we would only be able to grow a certain size. We wouldn't even have a nervous system, or muscles for movement!

We usually work on plant and animal cells in biology class. However, there are many types of cells! Plant cells would be easier to identify since they have a cell wall! Plants also have organelles like the cloroplast or large vacuoles.

There are so many other cells like eukaryotic, prokaryotic, red, and white blood cells.
