The process of developing my project idea was incredibly simple. I came into class and was assigned the Roller Coaster demonstration by Mr. Kahraman, my Physics teacher. Consequently, I had no part in the development of the project since it was designated to me without my personal input. Later, I was given the instruction manual for the roller coaster kit and was told what version of the roller coaster to make. My only involvement with the development of my project idea was my existing.
For the most part I did little to no background research. I used the principles that we learned in Physics class to explain the physics behind the roller coaster. All that I did was apply these principles to what I already knew about roller coasters. As I previously mentioned, I had little intellectual input into the design of the project; I mainly just served as the physical apparatus through which Mr. Kahraman’s will was expressed
into the project. Mr. Kahraman told me what to do and I did it. I did have some trouble seeking assistance from Mr. Kahraman since most of the days that are available for him to work on it were days that I could not.
I thought that the project was difficult for me to create. The actual process of assembling the roller coaster was difficult because I had to make it so that each car would start and finish its own track at the exact same time. This required a lot of adjustment and reconstruction of the track in order to get the heights and the angles just right so that both would finish at the same time and so that the looped one did not fly off of the track. However, the most problematic aspect of the construction of the roller coaster was the fact that it had to be assembled after school. Since I have cross country every day after school, it was difficult to find a day that both Mr. Kahraman and I could meet after school to work on it.
Honestly, I would be incredibly astonished if this project or anything that I learned from it might assist me in any future career goals of mine. The only thing that I really learned from this project was that I should have been more steadfast with Mr. Kahraman when I asked if I could have a project that I could do at home.
