My PBL Project

Topic: Constructing Puzzle with Transformations

Question: How do you construct a 30 piece puzzle and make it using transformations?

Intro: The objective is to use a program (like photoshop) to cut a picture into 30 pieces and create a puzzle out of the pieces.

Materials: Picture, laptop, photoshop (the program used might change I'll update it if it does)

Procedure: My project is to make a 30 piece puzzle by using transformations. First I'd use a picture in photoshop (or another program) and break the picture into 30 different pieces. Then to mix the pieces I'd use transformations (translation, reflection and rotation) to disorient the picture.

Principle: Transformations- rotations, reflection, translation, the picture itself and size will stay the same, only change location and perspective view.

Reflection Questions

1.) How did you create your puzzle?

-I used the program photoshop to grid the picture into 30 pieces and then broke it into those 30 pieces. To mix the pictures around to seem more like a puzzle, I used transformations (reflection, rotation and translation).

2.) For each piece explain your reasoning for which transformation you would use.

-I would use 10 reflection, 10 rotation, and 10 translation, making sure to vary in the parts I’ve already used them, so that it’s not easily noticeable.
