Project: Hand Crank Generator
Journal
The reason I am doing the journal is so i can neatly organize my project and so it can be easy to access for everybody to view.
SEPTEMBER-APRIL
I started developing my project idea since the day I discovered my Project.
My instructor, Mr. Demirturk, gave us a list of ideas that we could do.
I instantly saw the Roller Coaster project topic and instantly knew this was the one for me, sometimes you just
know when this is the one. And this was the one for me. I haven't regretted it since. I remember the face on Mr. Demirturk
when I first told him I was doing this project, his face swelled up with pride and joy and he told me four words that I
will never forget, "You won't regret it." Right there and then I knew this was meant to be and that this project meant more
to him than it did to me. This is going to be a fun project.
SEPTEMBER 20
When I got home on that day I told my mother I chose this project. To my surprise, she told me this was similar to a project
she had done in high school. She said she would gladly guide me through my project in hope that I would get a A+ like she
did with her project.
Today, I met with Mr. Demirturk to discuss my plan for this project. We discussed many topics and came to the conclusion
that this project is easier than I had thought. All I had to do was follow the easy steps in which he instructed me to do.
He said I could do the project in his class after school because he has all the materials needed to conduct this project.
Mr. Demirturk gave me a manual to follow. I didn't know some terms so I went online to research topics like Inertia and Friction.
I watched YouTube videos and videos of other Harmony students doing projects on In to better learn these things.
Today I was a little upset, I ain't gonna lie. I found out I needed to change my project. Mr. Demirturk told me we didn't have
the materials to conduct this experiment. At this point I started to cry. He called my mom into the class and she tried to get
me to stop, she was unable to do that. My mom had no choice but to call my crazy grandma..
We contacted the local airport and asked if we can rent a helicopter for about 5 hours. We flew her over and she got to
Laredo in no time.
She told me everything was going to be alright and that she loved me, and this got me to stop.
After school, we went to dinner. I had wings. They were pretty good, I'm not gonna lie.
So much for being on this "diet" of mine. LOL
But hey...they were gooooooddddd.
I usually get the mild because I don't like spicy things, but that day I got some spicy ones.
I was a little nervous though. I prayed before I ate them. I remember calling my chuch's pastor..Pastor Tim. And he said a prayer
over me through the phone. I'm glad I had the power of Jesus on my side through this difficult situation in my life.
ANYWAYS, I didn't do the project, but I had some good wings.
I changed my project, and i did it in class with my teacher.
It was pretty simple, I can't believe I didn't do this by myself.
It was interesting to learn that you can power a hand crank with ANOTHER hand crank.
I have completed my project and now all I am required to do is to finish my PBL website. It should be pretty easy considering all
the steps are on the PBL website.
Well now the time has come to complete my PBL website, Mr. Demirturk literally reminded me every single day that I needed to compete this and I would just say and think "yeah i have time" but now the whole project is due in a couple hours and I'm sitting at my computer with an empty website. So all I can do at this point...is pray and DO IT!
