OPTION #5 How it affected policy and society

For my physics project i will be doing the Chladni Plates experiment. This involves sound wave movements, resonance, and the reaction of other objects to them. (in this case sillica sand).

Music plays a really important role in our history. Besides that it serves as a form of entertainment, it is also a great form of art and even provides for jobs/careers. It has grown to become an essential part of life to our every day life today.

Ernst Chladni (1756-1827) was a German physicist and musician who enjoyed doing all kinds of researches. One of his best known achievements was that of the Chladni Plates in the late 18th century. This provided further knowledge in the music department. Since it was possible now to have better understanding of the way that sound traveled, and the resonance in various situations. What this knowledge served for was to improve the manufacturing of music instruments like violins and guitars. The manufacturing started to change in order to obtain a better sound quality. They are also used to be able to see how sound waves travel through a 2D object.

Here is a picture of the way in which a violin is designed, and its different components. It is designed in a way in which sound quality will be the best for the human ear.
