Introduction:It's like a candle act magic. In the following science experiment you can light a candle without touching a flame to amaze your friends.
Materials: 1.Matches
2.One Candle
3. Adult helpers
Procedure:
1.Use a match to light the candle.
2.Let the candle burn a while, and the blow out the candle.
3. You can see the smoke from the candle. Using a lighted match, touch the smoke. Make sure you do not touch the flame to the wick.
4. You will see the candle relight.
Scientific Principle:
The reason we can light a candle without touching a flame is that when you blow out the candle, the smoke is actually a paraffin of solid particles and will act as a connection between the flame and the candle wick, making the candle light again. The temperature of the flame and its surroundings is very high, so you can light the candle without actually touching it to the flame.
Safety regulations:
1. Ask your parents or an adult to be nearby in case of an emergency.
2. Be sure that you hold the lighted match upwards so the fire won't burn your fingers.
3. Keep any flames away from other flammable material.
4. Make sure to have a fire extinguisher/jug of water to do use the flames in case they get out of control.
5. Be sure to put out a burning match completely before disposing of it.
