Materials

• A large plastic container

• Water

• Food coloring (optional)

Procedure

1. Fill your plastic container with water.

2. Add the food coloring.

3. Set the plastic container on the base.

4. Start to spin the base till you witness the centrifugal force.

Results

The water was separated creating a constant curve

that was not disrupted until you stop the spinning base or if the base looses force.

Science Behind It

Centrifugal comes from a Latin root centrum meaning the middle and fugere meaning to flee, so the name literally means to flea from the center.

So centrifugal force is a force that draws a rotating body away from the center. This is caused by inertia of the objects body.

The whole concept of the centrifugal force is allied to rotating objects just as you saw the water flee from the center of the objects mass.
