Safety: This experiment does not have many safety risks because it only involves a jar and vibration coming from one's movements through their fingertips.
Physics Principle: The principle of the experiment is that tension from the fine wire radiates vibration through the wires and the small motor, making the butterfly get up from rest and move around. It also increases in motion as it does so because of the increase in frequency.
Procedure: The procedure is just one simple step: to tap the top of the jar and observe as the butterfly moves realistically with the vibration from the taps.
Materials: The materials used is a jar with the vibration sensitive butterfly, and a student to tap the top of the jar to demonstrate the experiment.
My materials for this project called Harmony Butterflies just includes a simple jar with a battery powered butterfly that operates on a thin string that makes the butterfly move through vibration.
Introduction: The name of my project is Harmony Butterflies. Fine wires cause the fake, but realistic looking butterfly to move by the movement and activity from the top of the jar, creating vibrations which moves the butterfly with each motion.
