The Drinking Bird
The Drinking Bird a scientific device that demonstrates the propeties of the center of mass and the concept of torque. It is generally composed of just a drinking bird of any size and some cold water and watch the bird begin to tip its head into the water and see it drink the cold water!
The Principles...
The Ideal Gas Law
.A proportional relationship between number of gas particles and pressure in a constant volume.
-The cold temperature from the glass of water and condensation causes the pressure, in this case, the liquid in the bird, to rise close to the head, making the bird tilt down towards the bird.
Heat
.Since this device is known as a way to be work by heat, it obtains that heat that it receives and converts it into pressure that is then applied to bulb, which starts to tip over the liquid inside of it, pushing down on the bird to drink it, like a lever trying to pull on a nail.
Materials
. A Drinkng Bird in which contains mass by liquid or such
.A cup to hold the cold water in its place
.Cold water (This is will help the bird in drinking)
Steps
1. Place the bird on a pedastal that will help balance out its force or moving back and forth, like a swing.
2. Fill the cup with cold water. Make sure that it is filled up to no more than the bird's legs.
3. Watch carefully as the liquid in the bird's tube starts to tip, as well as the bird, causing it to "drink" water.
-If it does not drink it immediately, then give the bird a little tap so that it will help drink
