THE HOTMAIL OUTLOOK CONNECTOR IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE. IT IS AN ADVANCE METHOD AND IT IS NO LONGER NECESSARY TO LOG IN TO YOUR OUTLOOK.COM, HOTMAIL.COM, MSN OR LIVE MAIL ACCOUNT. YOU CAN TRY OTHER TECHNIQUES TO LINK HOTMAIL WITH OUTLOOK 2019/2016/2013/2010 OR LOWER VERSIONS
Outlook Connector synchronizes Hotmail emails, contacts, and calendars with the local machine, just like Exchange Server with Outlook. If users want to use the Outlook Connector, they must first download the Outlook Connector.
Close all applications, including Outlook, and install the Outlook Connector.
Open the Control Panel → click on the Mail section → create a new account with the help of a connector.
Click Add → fill in the required information correctly such as username, email address, etc. Now, Outlook will automatically set up an account. To create the account manually, include the Outlook Connector in Additional Server Types.
After the Outlook Connector is configured on the system, a data file is created for the Hotmail account. At the same time, this file can be set as the default data file, the user cannot send Hotmail to another data file. If you send emails from other accounts to the Hotmail data file, that email will be transferred to the Hotmail server.
When Outlook Connector creates any data file, that data file can only be used by the account for which it was created.
It is important to remember that Calendar and Contacts on the Hotmail server are not synchronized with Outlook. To upload to the Hotmail server, users must move the items to the Hotmail folders.
If users want to use the Outlook Connector, they will need to configure the account. Use the steps below to do so:
Open Outlook → File → Account Settings → New Account Dialog.
Click to manually configure server settings or additional server types → click Next.
Now choose the Outlook Connector option and complete the Hotmail to Outlook wizard.
Open Outlook → File → Add Account.
Click Manual Configuration or Additional Server Types → click Next.
Choose the POP and IMAP option and continue.
Enter all the details in User Information and Login Information. Also, insert POP (outlook.office365.com) and SMTP (smtp.office365.com) settings.
Now, click on More Settings.
Choose Outgoing server → check My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication. Then enable the Use the same settings as an incoming mail server option.
Go to the Advanced tab and enter the respective port numbers [POP: 995 and SMTP: 465] and check the SSL encryption.
Click OK >> Next option. Then click on the Finish option and restart the Outlook application.
This will start verifying the server configuration settings. This will take a while to be successful. If any errors occur, proceed with the following steps
This type of error occurs when users configure Hotmail using POP3 and POP3 is not enabled in the user's Hotmail account. To enable "POP3" in Hotmail, do the following:
Go to the browser and open the Hotmail account.
Go to Settings and then select Options.
On the Options tab, choose POP and IMAP → check Yes in the POP options and click the Save button.
This saves the typesetting of your account to POP3. Close the Hotmail account and go to Outlook.
Now click Next.
A new window will appear on the screen containing the results of the configuration tests. Click Close.
Now, click Finish to complete the setup. This will easily sync Hotmail with your Outlook account.
Restart the Outlook application to see the Hotmail account in the Outlook 2019/2016/2013 folder pane.
Some of the limitations of the manual method to connect a Hotmail account to Outlook are listed below:
Manual focus requires a technically strong person.
It is not an effective hack for the conversion process. The process can get stuck in the middle if any step is wrong.
Hence, it is always suggested to go for an automated third-party solution for Hotmail inbox conversion to Outlook.
