While the three theories listed on this site may seem wildly disparate and unconnected in any way there is one thread that links all of them. Each of these theories in some way touches upon the importance of the learning community. Connectivism believes that individuals learn through social interaction. Constructivism believes that individuals learn through a social and then on an individual level. Gagne's Nine Events of Instruction do not implicitly state that there is a social aspect to learning; however, without the social interaction between student and teacher, the Events of Instruction cannot be completed.
