This map shows the geographic distribution of cohort size shrinkage index (CSSI), a proxy for severity of China's 1959-61 Great Leap Forward famine, at the prefecture level in China. The data source is the 1% sample from the China's 1990 Census of Population, which is available from the IPUMS project @ The Minnesota Population Center.
