I am a sociologist and demographer by training. I received my BA from the Department of Sociology at Peking University in 2003. After college I started my first job as a marketing manager at the Hainan Airlines. Two years later, I realized that I was not cut out for the business world. So I decided to go to the academic world and applied for graduate school in the U.S. I received my PhD from the Department of Sociology at Brown University in 2012 and started my second job as a research fellow at the Institute for Social Research (ISR), University of Michigan from September, 2011 to August, 2014.

I held a position of assistant research professor at ISR from September, 2014 to August, 2018. I am now an associate professor of sociology at Queens College - CUNY.

My profile page maintained by the Michigan Population Studies Center can still be found here.

I am married and a father of two - Alex and Alice.
