"We were enriched as we watched children wonder at the new sights they saw: The look on their faces of great excitement is something we can treasure. It gave us a new appreciation of some things we take for granted. We took the students to a field house nearby. They pictured a small gym, but when we walked in the door it contained 5 gyms with a track around it. They were awed."
"We made new friendships:When someone is in your home; there is much more time for sharing. We shared insights from God's word and prayer. We got a perspective on Korea which had seemed so far away. We saw how diligent they are in bookwork and school. They really value education. We saw them getting fresh looks at family relationships and wondering at how we lived together."
"It was fun to see the Korean students interact with our friends and family. My extended family remembers with excitement having a student at our Thanksgiving celebration. The student freely talked with many of them and drew amazing pictures for us."
"It is fun to help someone learn English. I discovered that English is a “funny” language. One time we were in a canoe and I pointed out a duck swimming in the water. Shortly after that we were running under a stick hanging out of the water. “Duck” I shouted. I couldn't imagine why the child searched the water frantically instead of bending over quick!"
