Biography
Dr. Guo Zhao-Qin received the B.S. degree from Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST),and the PhD degree from National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2008 and 2013, respectively. Both her undergraduate study and postgraduate study are in the area of control science and engineering. She worked as research fellow in Electrical Machine and Drive Lab at ECE NUS from 2013-2015. She worked as research scientist in Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology from 2015-2017. She worked as chief researcher at NIDEC Singapore R&D center from 2017-2018. She relocated to China at 2018, and worked as a senior control engineer at a start-up company.
Currently she works at Gen-song Shanghai R&D center, acting as the R&D director for the company. More information about the company business can be found here: www.gen-song.net
Research Interest
My background is in electrical engineering, and my specialty is in the area of control theory and applications. Research activities during my PhD study include work on modeling, system theory, design of motion control system for underactuated systems, in particular, development and control of a two-wheeled mobile robot. I have keen interest in advanced technologies and application orientated research works.
My postdoc research is mainly on development of hybrid propulsion system for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and sensorless control of PMSM; design of novel control techniques for high performance electronic converter for green data centers.
After 7 years academic life at NUS and two years working experience at research institute, at 2017 I decided to explore the control applications at industry.
My work at NIDEC R&D Center Singapore was mainly on motion control design for motor modules and robotic manipulator system. The R & D work at industry is more interesting and quite challenging, although it does not require the rigorous proof as we usually do at academic research work.
After I relocated to China at 2018, I started the R&D work on Autonomous Guide Vehicles (AGVs). At the early stage, I was mainly focused on the design of motion control system for the AGVs, while the job scope gradually changes. Now acting as the R&D director at Gen-song, my responsibility is to lead the team to deliver logistic solutions for factory or warehouse automation by employing the AGVs. There is still a long way to go as it is quite clear that there is still a huge gap to be closed between the China domestic products and products from European/US companies.
