Week 6

August 29th - September 1st

Week 6 of school is here. It is going crazy fast. It is important that you are staying up to date on your ALEKS. It is easy to fall behind.

ALEKS (We are at 20 topics this week and be at 20% completion by Wednesday at 11:59 pm):

Monday: You are working on ALEKS Modules and I will be calling you up to check your progress in each module.

Tuesday: You will be taking your SKC #2. Remember, it is 30 questions long and you have approximately 49 minutes to answer all the questions. If it gets close to the end of class, you will have to answer I don't know. The problem with that is it can and will lower your pie chart progress.

Wednesday: We will be working on Module 1: Numerical Expression.

Thursday: We will be working on Module 1: Order of Operations.

QUIZLET: Quizlet will be starting on Tuesday, August 23rd. The link can be found here. I will be updating the words for this week and will put the link in TEAMS.

FRIDAY SCHOOL:

The next Friday school will be on Friday, September 9th. You will be invited if you have an F, need to make up a scheduled knowledge check, or behind on your ALEKS pie chart. I will let those know who are attending on Tuesday, September 6th.

EMAIL: This year we gave all the students an email. The email I prefer you to send me stuff on is: khoketutor@gmail.com. The link will always be here on this page. Look to the side and you will see it says personal email. I will also put it on my Teams pages as well. We added email as we have gotten rid of iMessages on the iPad.

My interpretation: This is a hard concept for some kids and adults to get. To do what is best, even if it doesn't help you or advance you. The good thing is we all are a work in progress. See if you can better yourself and try to follow the values, not the gain for you.

SOME STUFF TO KNOW:

Remind: This is the platform I use to contact parents. This year I have decided to make it extra credit. I can't make you or your parents sign up for it, however, I highly recommend it. Please consider joining. The codes to join can be found in two places. One is down below and the other place is in the grade book in the description.

-It is important that you come to school everyday. We are only a 4 day week, so missing one day of school is like missing 25% of the week. Don't fall behind or miss classes.

- Homework may look different to what you have been used to in the past. This year your "homework" is made up of ALEKS Topics. I will give a lesson and then you will start working on the standard I assign. You will basically have three weeks to complete all that we have learned before we do a scheduled knowledge check. You should be able to complete 20 topics in a week since you will start class with 15 minutes on your path, 20 minutes of direct instruction, and then the last 20 minutes of working on your ALEKS standards.
