(USA 1967) Norman Jewison: A landmark film in which an African American police detective is asked to investigate a murder in a racially hostile town in the South of the USA - the menacing atmosphere feels very immediate. This is probably Sidney Poitier's finest performance; with Sidney Poitier, Rod Steiger, Warren Oates, Peter Whitney.

(France/Belgium/Japan 2016) Michael Dudok de Wit : A wonderful animated film that won the Cannes Special Jury Prize. Without any dialogue we follow a castaway on a deserted tropical island populated by turtles, crabs and birds. The Red Turtle shows us the milestones in the life of a human being.
