If you feel that you need additional help outside of the classroom, the university provides you with the following four options:
1. Visit my office hours! I am in my office Mon 10:15am-11:15am, Tue 11:30am-12:30pm, and Wed 1:00 - 2:00pm, waiting for students to come in for help! If you can't make these times, please email me to set up an appointment.
2. Visit the Mathematics Resource Center (MRC)! The MRC is a free math tutoring center located in room 1198 of the Faculty/Administration Building (FAB). The center provides free walk-in tutoring from undergraduates who have mastered the material for MAT 1050. Because the center serves students on a walk-in basis, it is an excellent place to work on your homework.
Please note that if you intend to take your laptop with you to the MRC, you should fully charge it beforehand as it is against MRC policy to charge it there.
The MRC officially opens for Fall 2017 on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at 10:00am. Its standard hours of operation are:
Monday-Thursday: 10:00am - 6:00pm in room 1198 FAB
Friday: 10:00am - 1:00pm in room 1198 FAB
Saturday: 10:00am - 1:00pm in the Collaborative Commons (2nd floor of UGL)
Visit their website at www.clas.wayne.edu/Math/Mathematics-Resource-Center for more information.
3. Visit the Academic Success Center! Unlike the MRC, which offers free walk-in tutoring, the Academic Success Center offers free one-on-one tutoring with a private tutor by appointment. Through the Academic Success Center website, students can make one-on-one appointments with tutors that specialize in MAT 1050 material (as well as content in other select courses). The center also assists students with strengthening their study skills.
Visit their website at www.success.wayne.edu for schedules and information on study skills workshops, tutoring, and supplemental instruction (primarily 1000 to 2000 level courses).
4. Visit the Mathematics Computer Lab (MCL)! The MCL is a free-to-use computer lab for students in MAT 0993 and MAT 1050. It is located in room 010 of the Science and Engineering Library. Tutors are available in the computer lab to assist students with homework. Because a major component of this course is online homework, it is highly recommended that students having difficulty with their online assignments visit this lab.
Visit their website at www.clas.wayne.edu/Math/Mathematics-Computer-Lab for schedule and other information.
