My research group focuses on the following two topics.
1) The research on the key technologies in the physical layer of 5G systems. In addition to the massive MIMO technology, the candidate 5G schemes in physical layer also include the technologies of non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) and filter bank multicarrier (FBMC), high-frequency millimeter-wave (mm-wave), full-duplex transceiver, ultra-dense heterogeneous networking, etc. All these are the focus of the research group.
2) Secure wireless communication technologies in 5G systems. The openness feature of the wireless channels makes the security issues in wireless communication systems more challenging than those in wired communication systems. Secure wireless communication technologies aim to ensure the security of wireless communications by making full use of the characteristics of wireless channels. For example, by taking full advantage of the spatial characteristics of wireless channels, adopting the multi-antenna technology makes the receiver at an undesired location unable to properly decode the secrecy data. Alternatively, the identity property of uplink and downlink wireless channels in the TDD mode can be used to generate secrecy keys, which guarantees the security of secrecy keys and thereby communications by avoiding the transmission of secrecy keys.
