I am Mr. Harmon. I have taught for almost 25 years with the last 21 being in the West Ottawa School District. I started my career as a middle school math teacher. I taught Math for 6 years before Terry Vander Yacht retired and sought me out to become the Modular Technology teacher. Terry was a tremendous help as I embarked on this awesome adventure.
Mod Tech turned out to be life altering for me. I had always worked with computers and any other electronic item I could find, but being able to do it as part of my career has been fantastic. I was introduced to a lesson recording system, Camtasia, back in 1999 and recorded more than 21,000 training movies for my students. It is a magnificent system because each student has their own bit of training that they can complete at their own pace. Since the training is recorded, I am still able to move about the room and assist them if they are stuck. It is really cool when you see it in action.
When I am outside of school, I still love my tech. I spend a lot of time "fixing" phones and making them do what I want them to. I also love to play sports. The only team sport I play anymore is hockey, but I have played football, basketball and soccer in my lifetime. I was very lucky to be able to soccer in college, Concordia Ann Arbor, which was an awesome experience.
I have two awesome children, Drew and Anna, that are both a joy to have around. They keep my wonderful wife and I extremely busy year round.
