ONE SEED OF THOUGHT GROWS THE FOREST OF PEACE
INVITATION
Children 8 to 18-years-old are invited to create a work of art for a peaceful world.
Theme 2024
This year's theme is based on a Whakataukī / Māori Proverb:
Kōtahi te kākano whakaaro, he nui ngā hua o te rākau houhou rongo
One seed of thought grows the forest of peace
Some prompts for discussion could include:
What does this proverb mean to you? What could this seed be and how do we nurture it?
What helps you get through tough times?
How can you contribute to an harmonious classroom?
How can you be kind to people who aren’t kind to you?
What does it mean to you to be a good friend?
How do we (as individuals or as a group) create change?
What does hope look like for you?

REGISTRATION
It would be really appreciated if you can register your interest (or your class' interest) in participating as soon as possible. This would be a great help to the organisers who want to ensure the best display of all the artworks.
SUBMISSION
Artworks to be submitted by 9th August 2024 (schools/kura and community groups)
Please mail/deliver artwork to:

usually between Monday and Friday 10am-3pm. Please call ahead at 04 499 4420

OPENING CEREMONY AND EXHIBITION
Celebrate your success at the opening at a venue in Wellington region. Enjoy speeches from student artists, entertainment, special guests, food and a grand display of the artworks.
The artworks will then be exhibited at the venue in Wellington for two weeks

How to display artworks:
If possible please ensure 2D works are on a cardboard backing sheet and include a name tag (see below).
All artwork should be clearly marked by student:
NAME / AGE / YEAR / SCHOOL OR KURA OR COMMUNITY GROUP / TITLE
Please also include a printed list of details of students artwork when delivering / picking up.
Print off name tags and student list here.
Dimension specification:
- 2D Artwork: Sizes from A4 to A1
- Should be on a backing sheet. See example with a name tag displayed at the bottom.
- 3D Artwork: No limit but please be considerate of other artworks
