Biography
Hironobu Iwabuchi has been a tenured Associate Professor in Graduate School of Science at Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan since 2011. His research fields focus on atmospheric radiation, remote sensing of cloud, and climate dynamics. He received a Doctor of Science degree in geophysics from the Graduate School of Science at the Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan, in 2001. From 2002 to 2010, he worked as a research scientist at the Frontier Research System for Global Change and the Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology in Yokohama, Japan and the Department of Atmospheric Sciences, Texas A&M University. He is a member of the Meteorological Society of Japan (MSJ), Japan Geoscience Union (JpGU), American Geophysical Union (AGU), and Optical Society of America (OSA). He has been an editorial committee member of the Scientific Online Letters on the Atmosphere (SOLA) published by the Meteorological Society of Japan. His current research interests are on modeling of atmospheric radiative transfer, remote sensing of clouds and roles of atmospheric particles in the Earth’s climate system. The researches are conducted in his group and in collaboration with domestic and international research groups.
