Research interests

Current research topics are as follows:

1. Satellite observation of cloud using Himawari-8 and MODIS data

2. Spatio-temporal variations of cloud and radiation to understand their roles with climate change

3. Development of observation systems and measurement techniques using ground- and space-based instruments

4. Modeling the 3D radiative transfer in cloudy atmosphere

5. Study on the 3D radiative transfer effects on optical remote sensing of cloud

6. Atmospheric optics: Phenomenology and mechanism

I am a lead developer of a 3D radiative transfer model, MCARaTS.

Using the model, we study the 3D radiative transfer in cloudy atmosphere, being motivated to improve the remote sensing techniques and to develop new methods using ground- and space-based measurement systems.
