All children need a nurturing home environment. The formative years of 0-3 are being recognized as a crucial time. My goal is to provide a home setting to your child that is a “home away from home” and a happy, secure environment, second only to your own home. I have chosen a career in child care because I wanted to be home with my daughter (now age 25), and I’d like to provide quality care to other children. My resume of educational history and past work experience is attached for your information. I have been a mother for 25+ years and find this my most rewarding job.
My child care experience includes motherhood and becoming a licensed child care provider in 2002, by completing the prelicensing classes for child care (12 hours), plus CPR, First Aid, Medical Administration and Universal Precautions. I also completed a full semester course (48 hours) in “Infant and Toddler Theory and Development” from Front Range Community College. Continuing education is 15 hours yearly, plus CPR yearly updates. In 2016, I achieved a Level 2 in the Colorado Shines daycare rating program. I am an avid reader and have completed a variety of books on parenting including: all “What to Expect” books, Dobson’s “Dare to Discipline”, Sears’ “Discipline Book”, all “Girlfriend’s Guides”, Sears’ “Baby Book”, Spock’s “Baby and Childcare” and many other Sears books. I’m an advocate of breastfeeding and a former La Leche League member. My favorite parenting author is Dr. William Sears and I believe in his advice about parenting to the needs of each individual child. This philosophy is good for child care also. I usually have a special way with children and animals.
I have taken a variety of classes with my daughter (and observed her classes) over the past years and plan to incorporate this knowledge into my child care program. The classes include: Mom and Me for age 18 months-2 years, Twodles for age 2, Wiggle and Whirl music classes, Building Blocks preschool for age 3, Kidz Escape preschool for age 4. Children will also participate in gardening, circle time, songs, stories, music (playing and dancing), dress up, educational videos (Babies First Impression series, Baby Einstein, Baby Mozart), movies, outdoor play on swing set and slides, ball, and any other exciting activities we think of. I welcome parent’s input and suggestions.
Mealtime Philosophy:
“Helping children grow with healthy foods is an important part of my child care home. I offer a variety of meats or meat alternatives, fruit, vegetables, bread and ORGANIC milk at meal time and snack time. Once I offer food, I leave it up to the child to decide which foods he or she wants to eat. I always prepare enough food for children to have more.”
