His Story

Below this is a bunch of "facts" about the person but sometimes people are only interested in a story about the person. This is the place for that.

Name Details

Howard's middle name, Horatio, is the first name of his father. Going backwards, it is not clear where the name Howard came from but the name was used in families that followed (such as the middle name of his son Hugh and then his son and grandson).

Birth

In every census, Howard was listed as being born in New York. In the book, History of the Upper Mississippi Valley, Howard is listed as being born in St. Lawrence county, New York on November 28, 1854. His death certificate also confirms the same birth date. A record from the town of Stockholm suggests that he was actually born in this location (which is in St. Lawrence county, akin to a township in MN).

Parents

His father was Horatio Hiram Hibbard and his mother was Druzilla, whose last name or previous married name was Grimes.
