Equipment

No special equipment is needed to start playing badminton. We provide shuttlecocks and nets are provided as part of the venue hire. Players should bring a drink with them, although there is a water fountain in the sports centre reception.

Players should wear good fitting trainers with non-marking soles. We have a small number of rackets to loan to new starters, although we do recommend that regular players acquire their own. Rackets suitable for beginners can be bought for as little as £20.

As players develop, good footwear becomes more important. It is not necessary to spend large amounts of money on specialist badminton shoes, but indoor court shoes are much more suitable than running shoes.
