What are private lessons? Why should my child take lessons?
Private lessons are opportunities for your child to work with a professional musician who specializes on their instrument. Our private lesson staff is made up of degreed music educators that are hand-picked by Mrs. West and Mr. Bahta.
Students who take private lessons progress faster than those who don't. Private lessons offer your child a unique experience they normally can't receive in a regular classroom setting. Each instructor will design a sequence tailored to your child’s individual instrument needs that often goes beyond the scope of material covered in regular band class. Private lessons are not remedial.

When and where do private lessons occur?

Students will have at least one lesson a week that range from 23 minutes (half a class period) to 30 minutes. Lesson times are arranged between the private lesson instructor and the student/parent.
How much do they cost? How do we pay for lessons?
Payments for all lessons are made directly to the lesson instructor, they will communicate with you their rates and methods of payment. Private lessons rates are different for each instructor based on a district-provided scale. All students who qualify for Free & Reduced Lunch will receive a discounted rate.
All RRISD students will have the opportunity to apply for the Zamarippa Scholarship to receive financial assistance towards private lessons. The applications will be available as early as late August/ early September.
