My name is Heidi and I am a professional child care provider. I am licensed by the State of Minnesota for both child care and elementary education. Before opening my daycare in August of 2005, I taught 2nd grade.
I have a degree in Elementary Education from St. Cloud State University. I also continue to take classes to keep my skills up to date. I have certifications / training in First Aid, CPR, Shaken Baby, SIDS, The Power of Play, Car seats, Love and Logic. I recently have completed classes about natural and logical consequences, movement, play based curriculum and early childhood curriculum writing.
Play is such an important part of early childhood development and I work hard at fostering creative and developmentally appropriate play opportunities for the children in my care. Kids need to get dirty, they need to explore their environment and have unstructured time to make sense of their surroundings. Play is a preschool child's most important work and they work hard here!
My husband Jamie and I have two sons, Christopher and Joseph. They are the light of our lives. When our oldest was born we made the decision for me to switch careers and care for children out of our home. I get to watch all these little ones grow and change, and love it.
We are so blessed to have our boys. Jamie is great with the kids and most days you can find him playing with them, just like a big kid himself! He is a great dad and really enjoys being around children. And the kids just love it when he is here, the whole dad vibe is something they just love! In 2017 Jamie joined the program as a second full time provider!
Jamie, Christopher, Joseph and I enjoy spending time outdoors, especially in the summer, when we take the boat out on the area lakes and rivers. Each year we spend a week "up north" at a cabin on a lake.
