Teaching
Heather has been teaching piano and theory for more than 20 years. In 2008, she opened Heather's Piano Studio in her home in Westdale, Hamilton, Ontario. She also taught at Merriam Music in Oakville, Ontario from 2004 - 2012.
Many of Heather's students have achieved high marks in music festivals and exams. She teaches all ages and levels and encourages each student to reach their highest potential.
Heather has been a member of the Ontario Registered Music Teacher's Association since 2009. She has experience as an examiner in the Keyfest exam system at Merriam Music as well as an adjudicator.
Education
Heather completed a BMus degree in Piano Performance at the University of British Columbia under the direction of Robert Rogers and Terence Dawson. She also studied chamber music and accompanying with Rena Sharon, Jane Coop and Robert Silverman. She went on to study with Robin Wood at The Victoria Conservatory of Music as well as the University of Victoria, earning the AVCM in both piano performance and pedagogy.
Performance
Heather has performed as a soloist, accompanist and chamber musician. Starting out in a musical family, she played piano trios with her father on cello and her sister on violin. As a university student, she successfully completed three full length solo piano recitals including works by Beethoven, Chopin, Mozart, Bach and Debussy.
Heather was the accompanist for Rich Harmony Singers in Burlington, Ontario from 2008 to 2011. She continues to play as a free lance musician accompanying singers and instrumentalists for recitals, exams, auditions and festivals.
