Reggio Emilia Inspired Program
4 Star Parent Aware rated program
Awarded Provider of the Year award for 2019 from the
Licensed Child Care Providers of Anoka County (LCCPAC) organization.
I am retiring in June of 2022, so I am not taking any new enrollments.
I am very grateful for all the families I have been able to be a part of in the past 20 years!
Staying with best practice, we have installed a keypad lock on the preschool door. The door code changes each time families join/leave the childcare. The door will remain locked whenever we are in school. If a relative or friend are doing the drop off or pick up, just have them knock and we will answer the door.
There are Disinfecting Wipes by the front door. Please use them to clean your hands and the door handles as you enter and exit.
THANK YOU FOR HELPING US TO STAY SAFE DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC.
Don't forget to check out the Wish List on the Family Involvement page and our Holilday/Vacation schedule on the Shutterfly Share main page.
Weekly Activity Reports are being emailed to families to encourage discussion about your child's week at school.
Enrolled families can keep up on their children's learning experiences by checking their Hearts and Minds Shutterfly Share account. We add photos after each unit of study.
At Hearts and Minds Preschool Childcare, we strive to bring
out the best in all the children we work with. We believe that children are capable, curious and competent. They are deserving of the respect given to any citizen in our community. We are a Christian, bi-lingual (English/Spanish) childcare with an additional focus on the Reggio Inspired philosophy.
We offer care for children from preschool through school age. We run a 9 month, 5 day morning preschool program for 3, 4 and 5 year olds with additional Pre-K work during the afternoon for 4's and 5's who are not napping. Preschool only children attend from 9am - noon, two or three days per week. This is offered within the full year child care program. Full and part time summer care is also offered with our Summer Garden and Character Quality Study program.
We want our families to feel like they belong here. We have daily discussions, weekly photo Activity Report emails, monthly news letters and family gatherings each semester. We individually plan for each child's needs, in coordination with parents, to meet the individual goals we together set forth for each child.
We work with children with special rights and children with special dietary concerns. We serve all home cooked meals that are high in vegetables and fruits and offer a variety of grains. We use mainly organic produce and grains and avoid all processed foods. When possible, we use our own fresh garden produce. I am a Farm 2 Childcare trainer, and follow their standards of local, fresh, in season foods being served to children.
We follow the Love and Logic techniques of discipline for children, along with the Nurtured Heart Approach for working with intense children. We believe in the Reggio Emilia inspired teaching philosophy for bringing out the best in each child, using the Hundred Languages children possess.. We have had Trauma Informed Care training and follow Tina Feigal's work in this area. Information about each of these teaching strategies can be found by searching the key words.
We welcome you to call us and set up a time to come and visit before you decide to have us be your child's home away from home. We do maintain a wait list.
