Distributions
When annual income earnings from the Headrick Educational Fund are available to provide for at least one full scholarship award, those earnings will be distributed as follows, as dictated by Mary Frances Headrick when she established the Fund:
The scholarship is not limited to Emporia State University
Scholarship Award consideration will be given to Graduate or Undergraduate applicants who meet Emporia State University's criteria of a full-time student. This is 7 (seven) hours for a Graduate Student and 12 (twelve) hours for an Undergraduate Student
An annual award will be made in the maximum amount of 1 (one) year's tuition and enrollment-based fees, plus the concurrent average of 1 (one) year's textbook costs. The award will be made in two equal payments, distributed at the beginning of each enrollment period
The school year being considered for the award begins August 1 and ends the following May 31
Applicants must have a grade point average of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
Previous applicants may reapply
The Scholarship Award will be made regardless of age, race, sex, or creed
In the event of multiple applications, the following criteria will be followed:
Preference will go to an upper class student who has proven scholarly dedication in high school and/or college
Consideration will be given to proven involvement with community service and/or environmental concerns
Financial need will be given attention in preference decisions
If annual income will provide for more than one scholarship, multiple scholarships shall be distributed
The annual income shall not be split into mini-grants to be awarded to several students, rather the annual income should be distributed in full scholarship amounts only
If there is not enough annual income to award at least one full scholarship, the income will be returned to the fund for reinvestment
If no applications are submitted, the annual income will be returned to the fund for reinvestment
Excess annual income will be returned to the fund for reinvestment
