Trip Agenda

Friday, Sept 15th:

Up early, 5am wake-up call, 6am breakfast.  Two hour drive from Williams to Havasupai trailhead.  THERE IS NO WATER AT THE TRAILHEAD!  Fill up water at Williams.  The trail: Head down switchback for 1.5mil from Hualapai Hilltop. Watch out for pack horses! Stay on the wall side if they pass you. The rest of the hike is a very gradual downhill trail. Admire the formations created from water and wind. Take pictures! At 7mil, enjoy the incredibly clear, cool water at the creek crossing. At 8mil, reach the Supai Village. Check out the restaurant and post office. At 9.5mil, arrive at Havasu Falls and the beginning of the campgrounds.  For most folks it’s about a 4hr hike.  When we hit the campground will “carve out some real-estate” for our group and set up camp. The campground is huge, but generally has a lot of people—it’s a happening place!

Pack Mules: If it's been a while since you'd done much hiking, it is highly recommended that you make reservations for a horse/mule (click here) to transport your backpack.  MANY hikers elect to do this.  The cost of this service is $121.00 (242.00 round trip) and is often split among hikers.  One horse/mule can take four packs.  Horse/mule reservations can be made by calling (928)448-2180 or (928)448-2237.
