CUE seminar Summer 2022

Main projects: Game theory and computational number theory.

The schedule for Summer 2022 is as below:

    • May 17 and May 24 (Lexi Nash, Isaac Attoh): Review Game theory.

    • June 21 and June 28 (Morgan Smith and Supragyapal Singh ): Review Abstract algebra.

    • July 5 and July 12 (Isaac Attoh): Game theory.

    • July 19 (Morgan Smith): Quadratic fields and the ring of integers.

    • August 2 (Morgan Smith): Ideals of quadratic fields, ideal representations, and the principal ideal problem.

    • August 8: USRA Wrap-up.

    • August 9 (Lexi Nash): Game values of distance games.

    • August 16 (Fatemeh): Defining equations of modular curves

  1. The CUE Student Research Forum and Poster Competition is scheduled on April 19th, 2022.

Supragyapal Singh and Khoa Bui presented their posters on the project "Elliptic curve cryptography" in this Poster Competition and got the third prize.

  1. Summer 2022: Morgan Smith got an Undergraduate Student Research Award (USRA) from the Natural Science and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) for the project "Principal ideal problems for real quadratic fields" working with Khoa Bui and Supragyapal Singh in Summer 2022.

  2. May 2022 at the student research competition at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Education: Tri Nguyen got the third prize for the project "Ternary form associated supersingular elliptic curves defined over F_p" and Lam Vo got an encouragement (consolation) prize for the project "The distribution of reduced ideals of real quadratic fields".
