IMPT INFO for my online Students:
MY ONLINE CLASS IS NOT SELF-PACED.
ATTENDANCE IS REQUIRED BY GOING ONLINE AND SUBMITTING WORK AS OFTEN AS IS DESIGNATED IN THE SYLLABUS.
TESTS MUST BE TAKEN ON CAMPUS AT THE DESIGNATED LOCATION ON CAMPUS DURING THE DATES GIVEN IN THE SYLLABUS or CALENDAR.
YOU MUST WORK ON A COMPUTER WITH RELIABLE INTERNET SERVICE, or you must come to the Math Learning Center to work on computers there.
Students need to be motivated, independent, and committed to spending SEVERAL hours a week on this class EACH week during the semester.
ENROLLED STUDENTS MUST PURCHASE MyMathLab (MML) and enroll in CourseCompass (CC) by the first day of class stated in the schedule. MML is not a printed book. Purchasing MML allows access to go online and enroll in the class on CC. The pages of the book are online. MML may be purchased online or in the bookstore. If you also prefer to own a bound textbook to use, buy the bundle*** in the bookstore (special order) which includes the textbook as well as MML. If you are taking Math 830 or 101, do NOT buy the book in the bookstore by author Blitzer. If you only buy MML, you will NOT have a real book to flip through, but the full electronic version of the text is in pdf format so you can read pages online or you can print out pages as needed. MML also has videos and many other features and is used to submit homework and quizzes. If you buy the bundle or MML in the bookstore, you must then log on at http://www.coursecompass.com to enroll. BEGIN SUBMITTING WORK THE FIRST DAY OF CLASS! NOTE: Sometimes I use the words CourseCompass (CC) and MyMathLab (MML) interchangeably. MML is the homework and quiz part of CourseCompass. CC is like Blackboard.
**Some students ask me whether they should buy the bundle or whether they should save money and only buy MML. Personally, I prefer a real book so I can carry it with me anywhere I go...couch, bed, car, etc., so I can read the text and do problems without being online, can flip to any page, etc. So if you can afford it, and feel the same way, that's what I recommend. If you have to order it, and aren't sure you'll have it before the first day of class, then use the grace period code to enroll in CC right away. As soon as you get the code, upgrade at that time. Or if you decide you only want to purchase MML, you can upgrade online within 20 days.
Most students simply purchase MML. It's really up to you. If you do only buy MML, the entire book is online, and you can still print any pages out of the text. It's all about convenience.
NOTE: IF YOU HAVE ANY PROBLEMS PURCHASING MML online OR ENROLLING ON COURSECOMPASS, OR ANY OTHER TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES, CONTACT THEM DIRECTLY FOR HELP. I CANNOT HELP WITH THESE KINDS OF PROBLEMS.
