Register on CourseCompass and enroll using this course ID: harland42017
Each student officially enrolled in section 2837 of my Fall 2010 Math 130 class must enroll in my CC class by doing one of the following (A, B, C, D, E) by 9/7/10, or they may be dropped. Read full directions.
A. Purchase the bundle in the bookstore or online, which includes a regular textbook (by Lial titled Trigonometry, 9th edition) bundled with MyMathLab, and then register and enroll in my CC class using the course ID (see top of page) using the access code provided in the bundle, OR
**Some students ask me whether they should buy the bundle or whether they should save money and only buy MML. Personally, I prefer a real book so I can carry it with me anywhere I go...couch, bed, car, etc., so I can read the text and do problems without being online, can flip to any page, etc. So if you can afford it, and feel the same way, that's what I recommend. Or you can purchase MML and try to find a used book. If you have to order the bundle, and aren't sure you'll have it before the first day of class, then use the grace period code to enroll in CC right away. As soon as you get the MML code you paid for, upgrade at that time. Or if you decide you only want to purchase MML, you can upgrade online within 20 days.
B. Purchase MyMathLab in the bookstore (price seems to vary depending on when they order it), and then register and enroll in my CC class using the course ID (top of page) using the access code provided in MML, OR
C. Purchase MML online by following the directions shown after E below.
D. Enroll in my CC class by 9/7/10 using the new course ID for this class (see top of page) if you already purchased MML and enrolled in CC using the book stated in A above in a previous semester. Here are directions:
1. Go to www.coursecompass.com and click Log In.
2. Do NOT Log in with your Login Name and password on next window.
Instead, Click on Edit your profile.
3. A new window will open. Please log in here with your CourseCompass login name and password and hit Log In.
4. Click on Enroll in a Course.
5. Input the new course ID above.
6. Click on Find Course.
7. Review the course information, then click Next.
You will receive an enrollment confirmation. Click "Enter course now".
E. Use a temporary access code if you cannot purchase MML by 9/7/10. Everyone MUST enroll by 9/7, so if you do not purchase MML, you must use this option to enroll. I do not suggest this unless you absolutely need it as your work will be lost if you forget to pay before the expiration date they give you. Go to this page for more info about the temporary access code: https://sites.google.com/site/harlandclub/Home/mmlgrace Then follow the directions for that page using the course ID at top of page.
If you are going with option C above and want to purchase MML online, FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS BELOW EXACTLY. THERE ARE 5 STEPS. (You will not get anything mailed to you, or any book in print.)
***IMPORTANT INFO FOR WHEN YOU REGISTER YOUR NAME: Use Uppercase Letters for the First Letter of both your First and Last name. Do NOT use all lower case letters. (Using all lower case letters created problems for some of my students in the past.) Enter all information carefully, making sure you enter your registered Last name as it is in SURF at MiraCosta in the correct place--do not enter your first name where you are supposed to enter your last name. FOR YOUR FIRST NAME, WRITE THE NAME you like to be called. Check your spelling carefully.
1. Open a blank page on the internet, and go to http://www.coursecompass.com/
After you register for my class, you should always log in to CourseCompass (CC) at http://www.coursecompass.com and read my announcements. There is no reason to log in at any other site. MyMathLab (MML) is part of CC. Once you are in CC, when you go to DO HW, Learn the Material, or Take a Quiz, you are working in MML.
For future use, BOOKMARK THIS PAGE right now!
2. Under Students, click Register.
3. Make sure “Get access to a new course” is checked (unless you already took this course from me before), and click Next.
4. Enter my course ID number. See above.
5. Follow the directions to either purchase online access (this is if you are buying MML online, or for using a student access code if you bought it in the bookstore.) If you are asked for the school zip code, it is 92056. Complete the registration.
If you have any trouble at all registering, see the highlighted information above, and call them at the 800 number listed during hours of operation. I cannot help you with enrollment or other technical issues.
NOTE: When you create a login name and password, and make sure you write this down!!! For your login, I would suggest you NOT use your real email address. Use anything you want that you will remember. Write your login name and password somewhere for your records.
