3/4/19 Info
Remember to make a post in the Week 6 Forum (that's the one you earn points on, not the Questions forum), read the comments and posts from others, and complete Quiz 5 by 3/4/19. If you do not finish it, use a late pass! It's Week 7 already! Begin Watching/Transcribing videos for 2.6-2.7 for your video notebook in preparation for doing those sections in the packet, and for the problems in Quiz 6, due 3/11/19. The next forum opens 3/5. Post well before the due date so there is time for discussion and replies.
If you haven't already done this, CLICK HERE to schedule an APPT to take Test 2 on one of these dates: 3/14, 3/15, 3/16, 3/25, 3/26, 3/27, 3/28 (Spring Break is 3/17-3/24: Campus is closed.)
Keep reviewing problems in the Unit 2 videos and packet. Also do similar problems in the quizzes for more practice. The more problems you do, the easier they get, and the more you'll be ready for the test. I also highly suggest you do the optional review and practice test. It's being able to consistently do any type of problem in any order correctly without looking at any notes or videos or examples that makes a huge difference. The more time and energy you put into doing lots of problems, the better! Go for it!
I am here to support you! My in-person office hours are T/Th 1:30 - 2:20 in room 3622 at the Oceanside campus. Feel free to stop by. I can also give you a call or we can meet in ZOOM, or possibly at other times. If you need help and want to work with me, send me an email and a phone number where I can reach you so we can set something up. If you have questions, Ask!
3/5/19 Reply ASAP if you want to purchase Units 3/4 from bookstore
I found out the bookstore returned the Unit 3 and 4 packets that hadn't been purchased yet. They will order again for anyone wanting to purchase them. Please let me know ASAP if you would like to purchase these packets from the bookstore.
3/6/19 Email only to students not posting in the forum due 3/4/19
I'm writing you because you have missed making one or more posts in the required forum. This is part of your grade, and part of your participation/attendance. Please make sure you do it this week, and from now on. You need to make a post or a reply to someone else's post about a problem assigned in the Unit Packet that week. Please do it early in the week. For instance, I'd suggest making a post no later than this Friday. That gives time for others to reply, or for any question you ask to be answered. If you have any questions, let me know.
3/10/19 Info
Most of the class is keeping up-to-date by posting in the forums before the last day to do so, and starting each quiz well before its due date. If you are falling behind, please rearrange your schedule and make it a priority.
If you haven't done so already, make a post about a problem from 2.6 and 2.7 in the Unit 2 packet in the Week 7 Forum (that's the one you earn points on, not the Questions forum), and complete Quiz 6 by 3/11/19. If you do not finish it, use a late pass! If you don't have 100% on Q4 and Q5, use late passes on those as well. Go for it!
It's Week 8 already! 2.8 and 2.9 are the last two sections in Unit 2, so begin transcribing videos for those sections in your video notebook this Monday. Then do those sections in the packet, and the problems in Quiz 7. The next graded forum opens 3/12. You do need to be proficient in multiplying polynomials and factoring. If you need review in either of these topics from Elementary Algebra, I have videos to help you do that at these links: Polynomials or Factoring
If you are ahead, you may take Test 2 this week beginning 3/14. Appointments are mandatory. CLICK HERE to schedule an APPT to take it on one of these dates: 3/14, 3/15, 3/16, 3/25, 3/26, 3/27, 3/28 (Spring Break is 3/17-3/24: Campus is closed.)
Due to Spring Break, you have time to catch up on any work and to study for Test 2 if you are behind. This week's graded forum and Q8 is not due until after Spring Break. Please make any forum posts well before the due date so there is time for discussion and replies. Make sure you read all posts.
To prepare for Test 2, review problems from the Unit 2 videos and packet, and click to do similar problems in the quizzes for even more practice. I also highly suggest you do the optional review and practice test in a quiet setting as if you are taking a test. It's being able to consistently do any type of problem in any order correctly without looking at any notes or videos or examples that makes a huge difference. The more time and energy you put into doing lots of problems, the better! Go for it!
I am here to support you and want you to succeed! Keeping up with the material, working daily if possible, and reviewing is crucial! If you need help, I can help you in person on T/Th 1:30 - 2:20 in room 3622 at the Oceanside campus. Feel free to stop by any time. I can also give you a call or we can set up a computer ZOOM meeting. If you need help and want me to call you, or to work with you in Zoom, send an email to me at mccmathgal@gmail.com and include your first and last name and a phone number with times I can reach you so we can set something up. If you have questions, Ask!
I am posting most of the Zoom meetings. To view any of them, click the links in MyOpenMath.
3/10/19 Math 64 Correction: Test 2 is over all of Unit 2
On my email earlier today, I had a typo. The last 2 sections in Unit 2 are 2.8-2.9. Test 2 is over all of the material in the Unit 2 videos, the Unit 2 packet, and Q4, Q5, Q6, and Q7. Everything in the Unit 2 folder should be completed. The due date for Q7 and Graded Forum 7 (over 2.8 and 2.9 problems in the Unit 2 packet) is after spring break.
If you have preference where to find the required forums, please reply to let me know. The options are:
1) Keep them where they are, in a folder below the Test folder.
2) Put the forums for each unit in the Unit folder so it is by the link to the quiz.

New Late Start Math 64
If you are currently enrolled in a Math 64 class, and doing fine, that's awesome! Keep up the good work!
I wanted to share information about a new Math 64 class being offered that begins 3/25/19 (the Monday after Spring Break) and ends on 5/20/19. The class meets daily Monday-Thursday from 9 - 10:50 am at the Community Learning Center (1831 Mission Ave, Oceanside, 92058) in room 108. The section number is 3479, and it is being taught by Mark Laurel. Students may enroll online in SURF.
If you or anyone you know enrolled in a Math 64 class but withdrew, or are currently in one but considering withdrawing for any reason (low scores, behind in work, other reasons), or were unable to enroll in one at the beginning of the semester, this option to start a new class this semester might be of interest to you/them. Please pass on the info if you know of anyone who might be interested.
3/12/19 Info Sent to students not making forum post by 3/11/19
I'm writing you because you are not making a forum post each week. That's part of your attendance, and an easy way to earn points in the class. Please start doing it early in the week so you don't miss out on those points!
3/24/19 Info
I hope you enjoying the Spring Break, and are ready for the second half of the semester. The due date for Quiz 7 and Graded Forum 7 is on Tuesday, 3/26/19. Make sure you complete those on time! The deadline to take Test 2 (over all of Unit 2) is this Thursday, 3/28/19.
After taking Test 2, immediately start Watching/Transcribing videos for 3.1-3.3 in your video notebook, and complete those sections in the Unit 3 packet. Quiz 8 and Forum Post 8 is due Thursday, 4/4/19. Quizzes and Forum Posts for Units 3 and 4 will be due on Thursdays for the remainder of the semester. Try to get ahead!
If you'd like to set up a ZOOM meeting, please email me with your phone number and some dates/times that work for you, and we'll set something up. I usually send out an email for all ZOOM meetings, and post recordings of them in case you could not attend online at that time.
Keep going strong. I want everyone to pass with flying colors! Questions Welcome! I am here to help you! What you need to do is focus, find concentrated amounts of time daily to doing all the work (watching/transcribing videos in your notebook, completing problems in the packet, making forum posts, asking questions, completing the online quiz) by the due date.
