Julia Nash - Hawks Ultimate Head Coach

Julia started playing Ultimate in 2000 when she went to The University of Georgia and joined the HoDawgs. After graduation, she joined leadership mastermind and husband Mike Nash in organizing a mixed team, IP, and then went on to play and coach a variety of mixed and women's teams in Atlanta, GA (Southside); Charleston, SC (Touche); and Stuttgart, Germany (GoHo Girls).

Julia has always felt lucky to play Ultimate since there is a strong community and makes meeting new, awesome people so easy!

Upon moving to Seattle in 2020, Julia connected with the Hamilton Hawks Ultimate program to see how she could help/make friends. Boy, did she luck out! With two girls two grades apart, Julia was in a great position to help for several years. In 2023-2024, Julia is coaching 7th grade at Hamilton and JV- Mixed for Lincoln.

Kevin Ramsey - Hawks Ultimate Coach

Kevin first discovered ultimate as a kid at summer camp in the 1980s. But ultimate wasn’t available as an organized sport in Michigan. So he spent his youth playing basketball and soccer before moving on to other pursuits in high school.

Fast forward to 2002 when Kevin moved to Seattle for grad school. There he joined his department’s intramural team at UW and fell in love with sport. Since then he has played in regular pick-up games in Seattle and Washington DC, and on teams in DiscNW’s Masters Hat and Adult leagues. He loves the positive spirit and inclusive culture that characterizes much of the ultimate community in the cities where he’s lived or visited over the years.

He started coaching youth ultimate in 2019 at John Stanford International when his eldest kid (Charlie) was in 4th grade. Since then he has coached every season that wasn’t disrupted by COVID. As of spring 2024, Kevin is coaching his younger kid’s (Alex) 7th grade team at Hamilton. When he isn’t playing ultimate, Kevin enjoys rock climbing, backpacking trips, and playing board games with his family.

Roy Tromble – Hawks Ultimate Coach

Roy began coaching Ultimate in Fall 2023. He and Nicole have four children who collectively started middle school in 2019 and will finish in 2030. Roy learned to play at the University of Idaho with pick-up games and intramurals, and returned to the sport in 2023 after a long hiatus. He appreciates that Ultimate is self-refereed and emphasizes the spirit of the game. In addition to Ultimate, he enjoys basketball, skiing, and juggling.

Nate Peek – Hawks Ultimate Coach

I started playing ultimate at Syracuse many many years ago.  Continued playing after college for about 7 yrs in DC then took a 10 year break focusing more on my music/ drumming.  We moved to Seattle in 2017 where my oldest started playing at Green Lake then at Hamilton.  At Hamilton I began coaching with Kevin Ramsey (7th) then Mike + Julia Nash (7/8th).  And this past fall I coached with Emelie Sandoz Voyer.  Looking forward to the spring season and seeing these 6th graders get better at this awesome sport!

Isaac Mohar - Hawks Ultimate Coach

Isaac played ultimate in graduate school at UW in the early 2000s.  He was reintroduced to ultimate in 2022 through his son's participation in West Woodland Elementary ultimate.  He has coached ultimate at West Woodland Elementary (4th/5th grades) and at HIMS in fall 2023 for 6th grade.  He is also a coach for HIMS JVC boys basketball.  Isaac has played many sports and finds ultimate to be uniquely welcoming of players at all ages and skill level.  When not coaching, Isaac enjoys skiing, fly fishing and PNW camping with his family.

Joe Teply – Hawks Ultimate Coach

Joe was first introduced to Ultimate in high school when he tagged along to a friend's practice. He has since played many years of pickup games with friends.

While he's coached many of his children's sport teams, Joe jumped at the chance to coach Ultimate when his oldest son was interested in trying it. He’s now coaching elementary and middle school Ultimate and hoping every player will have as much fun playing as he has.

Emilie Sandoz-Voyer – Hawks Ultimate Coach

Emilie first dabbled in ultimate as a way to fulfill a high school PE credit, but really fell in love with the sport after college. She has played in rec leagues in Chicago, Oakland, San Francisco, and Seattle for going on eighteen years, taking breaks when her kids were born, then forcing them to sit on the sidelines in all weather for most of their childhood. She coaches both elementary and middle school and loves that ultimate emphasizes positive spirit alongside competitive play.

Dave Evans - Hawks Ultimate Coach

After a stint playing college club Ultimate at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Montana State University, Dave rekindled his love for the game when he started helping out coaching 7th graders at HIMS. Five seasons later and he’s excited to continue helping players improve their skills while also learning life lessons through spirit and teamwork.  Dave has three boys split between elementary, middle and high school who all play and he has had the privilege of coaching two of them during their time at HIMS.  When not playing or coaching Ultimate, Dave enjoys seeing live music, snowboarding, hiking and traveling with his family.
