Senior Citizens' Tea

On a Friday afternoon at the end of May the parishioners of Haddenham and Long Crendon joined forces under the direction of Anne Lumsden with the assistance of Sister Eugene to provide a Tea Party for the senior citizens of both parishes. Transport was provided for those who are housebound or unable to travel independently.

This was an opportunity for those who are unable to attend Sunday Mass to get out and meet with old friends who they may not have seen for a long time. The team of volunteers produced plates of sandwiches, buns and cakes. The hall at Long Crendon was set up as a tea room with space for six people at each table and everyone was made to feel welcome.

A number of those attending were over 90 years of age and were delighted to meet up with old friends and to be able to reminisce about old times. They had very fond memories of Fr Boswell who founded the parish in Haddenham and built the church at Long Crendon more than 40 years ago.

The party was well supported and at the end of the afternoon everyone was happy and went home with a small parcel of food.
