Farewell to Magnus

Post date: Sep 25, 2013 6:21:30 PM

This month we said goodbye to Magnus who has been staying in the parish for the last two years, helping Fr. Leszek Wisniewski with administration in the Haddenham and Long Crendon Parishes. We held a farewell afternoon tea at St Mary's School for him before he returned to Tanzania.

Magnus Kalokola is a law graduate from Tanzania who studied in South Africa and has returned to Tanzania where he plans to follow the family tradition in the legal profession and is seeking to become a magistrate and hopes to get married. During his time in England he has made many good friends and he has been able to see the country, participate in an Oxford Summer School and make a two week pilgrimage to Rome and Fatima.

As Magnus is teetotal his farewell celebration took the form of a traditional afternoon tea party in St Mary’s School Hall with everyone bringing a plate of food to get the party going. It was a happy day, but we are sorry to see Magnus depart and he returns home with the good wishes of all the friends he has made in England.
